It’s a lie.

It’s a bunch of sad strangers photographed beautifully, and all the glittering assholes who appreciate art say it’s beautiful ‘cause that’s what they wanna see.

But the people in the photos are sad, and alone. But the pictures make the world seem beautiful, so the exhibition is reassuring which makes it a lie, and everyone loves a big fat lie.

I enjoy Nikola’s photography. Its also a lot of naked people, but even if they were fully clothed, there is a sexual energy about his work i am draw to. Its not dirty, or pornographic. Its visceral. Raw. And although he can photograph the lovely and downtrodden alike, his work celebrates and participates in it. He can make very ugly things beautiful.

besides the fact that seeing babies cry is like the FUNNIEST THING EVER i enjoy the juxtaposition of pain and glossy lighting. i have found that most of Jill’s work looks like this, and i’m not a fan of gimmicks, but its a recognizable style that i find pleasing to the eye.

i was thinking the other day, if i had to name my favorite photographers of all time, who would they be. i knew who they’d BE but i’m always bad with names so i’m pretty sure i’d be at a loss without google.

Howard Schatz is probably the first photographer that ever moved me. he does a lot of nudes but theyre not sexualized at all. they are all about light and angles and curves of a body, and are an exercise in the beauty of the human form. they look more like sculptures than photographs.
